AI on TVs: Samsung brings Microsoft Copilot to 2025 TVs and monitors

Whether you're looking for spoiler-free recaps of the latest show, trying to remember where you left off in a series, or need a quick weather update, Copilot is ready to help, all without interrupting your viewing.

Samsung on Wednesday announced a new integration of Microsoft Copilot to its 2025 lineup of smart TVs and monitors.

The announcement signals a new era of voice-first entertainment, where TVs not only respond to your commands but can hold a conversation, explain the plot of your favourite series, and even translate dialogue in real time.

At the moment, users will experience Copilot, Microsoft’s now-familiar generative AI assistant, which will appear as a floating, friendly on-screen guide.

Whether you're looking for spoiler-free recaps of the latest show, trying to remember where you left off in a series, or need a quick weather update, Copilot is ready to help, all without interrupting your viewing.

“Through our open AI partnerships, Samsung is setting a new standard for AI-powered screens,” said Kevin Lee, Executive Vice President of the Customer Experience Team at the Visual Display (VD) Business of Samsung Electronics.

“Copilot makes it fun and easy to quickly get what you need through tailored experiences, whether you’re learning something new, enjoying entertainment, tackling everyday tasks or more.”

So far, Samsung has stated that Copilot will roll out in "select markets."

While countries like the US, South Korea, and parts of Europe are likely first in line, Samsung has not yet confirmed if African markets, including Kenya, will be part of the initial rollout.

Kenya has seen a steady rise in the adoption of premium Samsung products.

The Galaxy S25 series, which also uses AI heavily, launched in Kenya earlier this year to strong demand.

Samsung has also been aggressively marketing its smart TV lineup locally, including its AI-powered 2024 Neo QLED models and Frame TVs, indicating growing interest in high-end, AI-driven entertainment systems.

For now, Kenyan users with 2025 Samsung models, such as the Neo QLED, OLED, The Frame Pro, or the M7/M8/M9 Smart Monitors, should keep their devices updated.

If and when Copilot becomes available regionally, it will likely arrive as a software update rather than a new purchase.
